How to set up and maintain a blog. What are blog servers? Why should I bother to build a blog? These are some of the most common questions that come up when considering blogging for profit.
Get your domain name and blogging host. Choose a domain name that reflects what your website is about. If you're into photography, choose a photography blog. If you're into health, choose a health/fitness blog.
Produce valuable content
Build a quality editorial calendar. A quality editorial calendar gives your audience a snapshot of how your past week, month, or quarter went. It gives readers a sense of your sense of humor. Google loves fresh, relevant content. That's why your Google AdSense publisher ID is very important. Your calendar will give them a taste of who you are as a blogger and your personality and sense of humor.
Use keywords strategically
Learn how to incorporate a keyword phrase into your blogging post. One of the biggest mistakes that I see people make when it comes to blogging is to not use a keyword phrase in their blog posts, and I am not talking about stuffing the page with keywords. A great way to build your business is to use the power of the search engine. However, you also have to get your content in front of people through the various social media channels. For example, I use twitter to tweet my links, I use Facebook fan page to comment on other people's posts, and I use Google+ to shout out my link.
Avoid keyword stuffing. Keyword stuffing is a big mistake that many new bloggers make. You see, the reason that Google loves keyword phrases is because it means that there is some good content on that particular keyword. When someone searches for that keyword, it means there is information on that particular subject.
Plan an affiliate marketing strategy
Be as genuine as
possible. This means that you should not try to make it sound like you are some
super affiliates who can sell anything and everyone. As long as you remain true
to yourself and your blogging goals, you will attract readers. The best way to
do this is to simply talk to them, respond to their questions, and share useful
information with your target audience.
Avoid using links to
your blog content. If you link to your posts, you are only creating more junk.
Instead, try to put a direct call to action that will point your readers to
click on your links. For example, if you are writing about affiliate marketing,
you could direct your readers to click on a link where they can find great
affiliate marketing strategies.
Know your audience
Mention your target
audience when appropriate. There is no better way to attract readers to your
blog than by providing useful information about them. For example, if you are
writing blog posts about affiliate marketing, make sure you talk about how
affiliate marketing works and how to get started with it.
Avoid using the word "tweet" too much. Too many people these days are tweeting for business purposes only. If you use the word "tweet" too much, you will end up getting lost in the midst of all the other chatter going on throughout the internet. When your blog post is picked up by Google, you are sure to get a lot of "tweets" in response.
Attention
Do not use the word
"link" too much. Many people on Twitter these days are linking to
their blog posts. When your blog post is picked up by a link, it means that you
have attracted readers who click on your links and are now in touch with your
target audience. However, when you use the word "link" too much, you
lose some readers because of all the other social media sites where your posts
can be found.
